Sausalito Residence

Whole Home Renovation and Addition

This whole-home renovation transformed a traditional shingled bungalow into a modern hillside residence designed to maximize views and strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor living. A new lower level added a playroom, guest suite, home theater, and enclosed garage while overcoming the challenges of a steep site through thoughtful planning and a custom glass-enclosed stair that brings natural light deep into the home.

Large sliding glass walls open the main living spaces to expansive decks overlooking Angel Island, creating more than 1,400 square feet of seamless indoor/outdoor living. Sustainable features—including a planted roof, photovoltaic panels, energy-efficient windows, and a Swisspearl rainscreen façade—complement a restrained palette of wood, concrete, steel, and glass.
